MECHANIC HELPER

JOB DESCRIPTION

A Mechanic Helper will assist in maintaining our Refuse Truck Fleet at the Decker Dispose-All Facility in Bacliff, TX. The successful Diesel Mechanic Helper will be responsible for assisting Lead Mechanics with the maintenance
and repair our fleet of Refuse Trucks in a shop setting.

You are a person who has:​

• Automotive, heavy equipment, refuse truck, or diesel mechanical experience.

• Understanding of electrical, mechanical, and hydraulic systems and a mechanical
  aptitude.

• The ability to pass a pre-employment drug screen and DOT physical.

• A valid Texas driver's license with an acceptable driving record.

• A strong work ethic, excellent communication skills, and a willingness to learn.

• Make sound decisions regarding truck maintenance.

• Complete daily maintenance assignments in a timely and efficient manner.

• Interest in growing their career with training to become a full-time mechanic.

• Must have own tools or willingness to purchase required tools.

Daily responsibilities include:

• Performing vehicle PM.

• Perform vehicle pre and post-trip inspections.

• Maintaining regular fleet oil changes.

• Frequent tire inspections.

• Grease trucks.

• Replacing hydraulic hoses.

• Replace lights.

• Pay TBD based on experience.

 Requirements

• Must be able to pass a drug screen

• Must have a good work history

• Must physically be able to lift, carry, push, and pull at least 50 lbs

• Must have the physical ability to climb in/out and on/off of the truck repeatedly

• Must have scheduling flexibility to work early mornings, late evenings, and Saturdays as the business deems necessary

• Must have the adaptability and foresight to handle unexpected situations such as weather, traffic, equipment malfunctions, etc

• Must be able to work in various weather elements

• Must have a team player mentality and be willing to help when and where needed

• Must have good communication skills
